Hopefully we are keeping you busy enough across all the modules of your journalism MA but just in case here are a couple ways to fill those spare moments:

  • Read Mark Briggs’ “Journalism 2.0″ handbook for loads of great tips and techniques in your online journalism practice
  • Register at and take a new course with Poynter Online and the News University. Registration is free as are most of the flash-based courses on everything from editing to multimedia storytelling and reporting across platforms.

The US-based Online News Association has announced the winners of the 2008 Online Journalism Awards. Despite the list limiting itself to mostly American mainstream media publications there is a lot of interesting content to browse for aspiring online journalists. One of my personal favourites is Bearing Witness from a team of 100 reporters and photographers from Reuters.
