The US-based Online News Association has announced the winners of the 2008 Online Journalism Awards. Despite the list limiting itself to mostly American mainstream media publications there is a lot of interesting content to browse for aspiring online journalists. One of my personal favourites is Bearing Witness from a team of 100 reporters and photographers from Reuters.

Make sure to visit the finalist sites as well as the winners and use this opportunity to try out the comment function on Cutlines to suggest your own favourites.

You will probably find that you have mixed reactions to the featured sites and this speaks to the subjective nature of receiving online or any media. But reflecting on existing best practices is a great way to pave the way for implementation of your own ideas.
